A New Teapot!

Necessity dictated that we needed a new teapot! since the other one met with an accident over the Christmas period!

So out with the old:

r.i.p ... and in with the new, just like the New Year that's just started!  The new one matches my tea set, which is a bonus and I also have a spare lid for it.  An English lady needs a lot of teapots! The design for the new teapot is Colclough Royale. I originally bought it for my mum, purchasing a few items each birthday as I could afford it.  Most of it is still intact, but this is the third teapot that has joined the cups and saucers!  Sadly, the Colclough factory is no longer in existence, making my teaset a collector's item.

The poem below describes where I am in my life right now.  I like very much being a Grandma and look forward to the days when my little grandson will come round for tea and cakes with Oma.

Copper kettle burnished bright,
Glinting in the firelight,
Starched white tablecloth in place,
Edged with newly crocheted lace,
Heady smells of fresh-baked bread,
Hand-made butter pats to spread,
Damson jam and apricot,
Tea brewing in a cosied pot,
The tinkle of those silver spoons
Brought magic to those afternoons,
Her wrinkled face, her kind, blue eyes,
The cakes that she called butterflies;
Such memories in mind I see,
Of going to my gran's for tea...

A nice cup of tea,

Just right to have with a plate of chocolate chip cookies:

What follows is a picture of a child's Japanese tea set, part of it anyway! It was mine when I was little, but this is all I have left.  I may well be searching through E-bay in the future!

Does anyone else have a child's tea set from their youth?

Your new teapot is lovely, and to have a set is special, since the factory is closed. MMmmm, Yorkshire Tea.
Re the poem you share here, have you read the book "A Cup of Christmas Tea", which is a poem about a young man who visits his elderly aunt. I think it would suit you "to a tee", as they say.

It's a lovely new teapot, the colors are perfect for winter !
I must admit I will miss seeing your Pansy teapot, I have one with the same pattern but slightly different pot, it's my summer teapot.
Love that Yorkshire tea, and the poem is delightful ...
Hugs,

Your new teapot is beautiful star! I drink a lot of tea too. But I put the water in a teacup. So my teapot is as new. I must use it i think now. It's so much cosy to have a teapot on the table.
Unfortunately I don't have a children tea set anymore. That I used more than my teapot so it must have been broken...
Love the pictures of Dylan. He's a beautiful boy, and I can imagine you're looking forward to the time, he can come to oma, to drink tea with her.
Have a great weekend, hugs Ester

First, thanks for coming by my site to read and leave such lovely comments.

Secondly, yes! I still have the small cup and saucer I used as a child to take tea with my Mama and her friends. I have her old green china teapot as well and use it often. Good friends in the Midlands send me real British leaf tea twice a year (I'm in the US) so I am well supplied. Afternoon tea is one of my favorite things ever!

The one with the pansies is lovely. I like the shape of it too. I drink tea on winter afternoons, but my husband drinks it all the time, so I have several. Love them. Are you on Facebook? I'll post mine on my page. Ellis Vidler
I want to hear about Amanda Marigold too. I didn't know.
